Thank you all for your replies and support ideas. It seems like Fedora
is the way to go, with most people mentioning it. :)
I'll have to get a system and throw it on there. Right now I'm kinda
stuck with just my one system with windows. I thought
about a dual-boot but the more I read into it, the more I fear of
problems along the way. I've decided to go with Fedora,
and will be installing that. Thanks again!

Hi all. I just joined this mailing list about 2 days ago, and have
been reading almost every message for tips and tricks.
To get back on topic, to get a Myth box up and running with the minimum
of linux knowledge, I think you might be better installing Fedora Core 4
and using Jarod's superb How-To guide ( http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/ ) -
it's absolutely first class and you probably just follow it word for
word unless you're unlucky enough to hit a weird problem, and if you do
then this list contains a wealth of info.

Bookmark that site, then search it for help about ivtv, mythtv and a LOT
of other stuff.
I spent a chunk of a rainy Saturday just reading threads in the mythtv
archive and learnt a LOT... even though some of it was old stuff, now
obsoleted by changes to the drivers, it gave a structural framework for
how things are supposed to work, and lots of hints about where to go to
tinker with stuff that doesn't quite work (such as the message logs,
dmesg, udev rules etc...).
