If what you mean is to control an *amplifier* then the other suggestions given here are good options.

However, if you are refering to a *receiver*, then you can control much, much more than the power via RS-232. Integra, Denon, Marantz, HK all offer serial control on their middle to upper range of receivers. Almost all of the boutique stuff like Lexicon, Mark Levinson, ADA, and Adcom have this capability as they are often put behind Crestron and AMX control systems. Some components can "speak" bi-directional as well.
