I guess when someone talks about "installing myth" - especially
installation problems - I never consider that they might be
installing just a front end.

With Knoppmyth you can run a remote frontend from CD (handy for
watching
from your Windows box) - just configure networking and point it at
the
backend's IP, as usual, all the settings are stored in the database.
If you want a backend to do recordings you need to do a HD install.
