Hi, I rolled back ivtv to 0.3.8 and loaded the firmware from my CD:
HcwFalcn.rom (md5sum: 5f5fa240ada73c3565f5f7de4c7b5138) symlinked to ivtv-fw-enc.bin HcwMakoA.ROM (md5sum: 3a4803384f749d644ee1f1ca9dcb12fa) This second file is the same as the one Alan mentioned in his video distortion post, though it is unclear whether it is the one causing his problem or curing it.
