The following is my working xorg.conf on FX5200 on ubuntu and in the uk (PAL-I). Note that tv output is set to composite even though I am using an Svideo cable - go figure! BTW the config works but it is a bit of a hack.On Mon, 2006-01-23 at 00:13 -0800, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:Not quite sure what you are saying when you say you get snow and diagonal lines, etc. It's like little dots on the screen. It moves from left to right. If you do how can you see anything? It's not really all that bad. But quality just isn't good. :-(Resolution isn't sharp? I hope you're not trying to compare a standard TV to even the cheapest PC monitor because you can't compare.I've played with a Mini-ITX MII before with it's TVOut and it's a lot clearer than what I'm seeing now.You can however try the nvidia-settings app which will let you adjust some settings for text to look clearer but video doesn't look as good. Your choice.I want video to be Clear. That's It. I don't need console text. (SSH)I run 800x600. What more would you need on your plain TV?Do they run 1024x768? Actually, 800x600 is plenty fine for me as long as it's clear. They are talking mode lines and etc for HDTV's and beyond. Plain old TV's you are probably even ok with 640x480.Ah.. I see. I have a POTV (Plain Old TV)________________________________ Johnny Lee -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Ow Mun Heng Sent: Sunday, January 22, 2006 11:51 PM To: Discussion about mythtv Subject: [mythtv-users] Nvidia-FX5200 TVOut Xorg Configs Hi All, Just bought a Forsa Nvidia fx5200 Graphics card. It comes with an SVideo Output and a Svideo to Composite cable. I tried it out (the whole day yesterday) and was not able to get a clean and "teriffic" looking TV-Out. I've read multiple email posts on mythtv and searched google as well but I've not been able to get a clean signal on the TVout. I keep getting "snow" on the screen. Also, in most cases, when the screen is all black (Blank), I will see what looks like scanlines running across the screen. (diagnonally). Also, the resolution isn't sharp, the fonts looks Blur too. (In console mode, I can barely read the output. It looks like it's been 'strikethrough') I read about modelines but I'm guess I still don't understand it. (and the notion that it can fry my hardware is making me nervous) Can anyone help? Post your Xorg.conf file? BTW, I'm using a SVIDEO to COMPOSITE cable. Will this degrade quality? My TV don't have an SVIDEO Input. Thanks Hope it helps.
