Subject: [Nagios-users] disable service checks when a host goes down
I'm trying to disable service notifications when a host goes down.
Does
this have to do with dependencies or notification optoins? Or
something
else?
Nagios will automagically do this if you have a valid host check_command
specified that returns CRITICAL if the host is down.
I asked in #nagios and apparently this should be what nagios does by
default. The suggestion was to check check-host-alive.. but I'm using
the supplied check-host-alive.
Can you run the host check_command, exactly as it's defined, as the
nagios user and receive a CRITICAL state ('echo $?' should return '2'
after running the command) when the host is down?
It doesn't matter if it returns 1 or 2. Both are considered DOWN.
