I just want to add that snmpget returns a good clean string on both Solaris 8 and 10. I also copied over and ran the check_snmp that I built (and runs well) on Solaris 8 on the Solaris 10 system and it too returns the garbage strings. So I'm at a total loss as to what about Solaris 10 that would cause such behavior, but it's bad enough that I cannot use check_snmp dependably.
