Yeah, I saw similar reports when I first hit the error. I've since
submitted a bug report to the Nagios debian package, so maybe they
can do something with it. I downgraded to an older version of perl.
Hopefully this will fix the problem.

Maybe something in there will help you towards resolution. I see a
number of hits related to Perl. Do you have perl compiled into nagios?
If perl is crashing due to this bug it's probably taking nagios
down as
well. Try re-compiling without the embedded perl interpreter.
