Dear Folks, After many years of using and thinking I understood the use of the 'parent' host attribute, I find that I don't and hope someone will amplify what is given in the FAQ and http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/2_0/networkreachability.html
In particular, that document seems to suggest that each host in a routed subnet (at least) should be configured with the short name of the subnet router. But what happens when there are two site routers perhaps sharing a gateway address with HSRP ? Do both routers go in the parents directive ? All advice cheerfully received. Thank you, Yours sincerely ------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
