I've been planning on an upgrade from nagios 1.4 to 2.4 but my biggest concern is the use of hostgroups in escalations. I am monitoring close to 600 hosts and 1697 services so typing these in individually would be a nightmare. Is it even work upgrading to 2.x? Does anyone have any advice to make this an easier upgrade?
