I've noticed that you should not immediately restart nagios after sending the 
stop command.  Some processes will continue to run, and if you restart too 
quickly - you'll end up with the mess you had.

Send the stop command and wait until you see all nagios processes exit.

Thanks, you were right, i stoped the service and verify the process, and there 
were a lot of them running, don´t know why, but i kill them all, and restart 
the service and it seems that it took the changes.. I´ll be checking today...

It sounds to me that you have more than one nagios daemon running. Stop nagios 
then use ps/kill to kill any nagios processes that remain then retart nagios.
