Get your hands on the manual and learn the usage of the yum tool to install and update packages. In fact one can even install nagios and update that way without a glitch if just add the dag wiers repository. Just add http://hvdkooij.xs4all.nl/linux-server/dag.repo to /etc/yum.repos.d/ and you are all set if you run RHEL 3 or 4 or one of their clones.
