I can't really tell: back when I used 2.4 I wasn't aware of this problem and hadn't added so many machines/services yet. I figure the problem *probably* exists. On the other hand: if it hasn't bitten you yet, why worry? Just keep an eye on your nagiostats output. Any Nagios admin should IMO do that anyway, regardless of known problems.
