Hey Nagios users. I have a strange problem with nagios NSCA daemon which keeps shutting off :
In the end I can see this in the logfiles after It have been running for ca 1-2hours : Jan 24 18:08:48 localhost nsca[11090]: Network server bind failure (98: Address already in use) Jan 24 18:08:49 localhost nsca[11091]: connect from ::ffff:192.168.1.1 (::ffff:192.168.1.1) Jan 24 18:08:49 localhost nsca[11092]: Network server bind failure (98: Address already in use) Jan 24 18:08:50 localhost nsca[11093]: connect from ::ffff:192.168.1.1 (::ffff:192.168.1.1) Jan 24 18:08:50 localhost nsca[11094]: Network server bind failure (98: Address already in use) Jan 24 18:08:51 localhost nsca[11095]: connect from ::ffff:192.168.1.1 (::ffff:192.168.1.1) Jan 24 18:08:51 localhost nsca[11096]: Network server bind failure (98: Address already in use) Jan 24 18:08:51 localhost inetd[5382]: nsca/tcp server failing (looping), service terminated It have been setup to run under inetd – but have also tried to start it as a daemon but with the same problem no matter what! So the question is how to make it work ? Its running on Ubuntu nagios 2.7 and NSCA 2.7 I have tried amost anything about under inetd, daemon etc – so its always the same. I also have a speciial thought: Could it be something about the configuration about passive hostcheck and if it runs into 2 exactly lookalike results about the host is down ??? and therefore think its looping ??? don’t know ??? Could anyone give me a solution for this – Not sure about the bind ?? It’s not running bind or DNS allthough its still checking the nameservers on the system?
