Hi all, I've got nagios 3.0b6 running on Debian/etch with Debian's default Apache.
Apache runs as www-data:www-data. Nagios runs as nagios:www-data, set this way via nagios.cfg's nagios_group command. In /etc/passwd, nagios has the default group of nagios. (Confusing, I know, but I'm trying not to stray too far away from the Debian norm.) When I restart nagios, the command pipe ends up with the group nagios, not www-data, as I specified in the config. I'm confident in saying that it's nagios that does this, not the init script. Is this by design or an oversight? If by design, what have I overlooked or not understood? Thanks!
