I’m not so sure it would be messy, surely most users would want a Nagios NOTOK if any of their Ethernet adapters are returning a bad status.
Also, if what you suggest is correct, then I have to ensure I always plug my most important LAN into the first Ethernet, what happens if I want to check a second interface too. nb in my example; 6 is the ifType, not ifName.
