What is the error you're getting? What happens when you tell nagios to validate the config? nagios -v /path/to/nagios.cfg The file windows.cfg is a conventional name to hint there might be windows based computers in there. However that's for you, not Nagios. Nagios reads them all, and processes them afterwards.
