The client is able to remove the gel polish at home. No need to pay a nail tech to remove it properly and safely. That, in itself, makes a huge difference. And they do not give added strength to the nail. Whatever they are called, soakable gel polish is a new service that can appeal to a new group. The client can decide if it's misleading marketing. I have great results with it. I don't see that it compares to "manicures that last 3 weeks" Perhaps I don't remember exactly, but it seems that those ads had pictures of what appeared to be extensions. I wonder how the nail techs who adopted marketing that product are doing or did and if they are still using it. Marsha McDonald Rubino GIMME NAILS 37 Fifth St. E. IN my humble opinion….a nail enhancement is a nail enhancement,.,,is a nail enhancement. For me, how you get it off doesn’t define whether it’s “natural nails” or “artificial nails.” I personally have a lil bit of a problem with marketing that is misleading. There was a campaign in recent years in national print media about “manicures that last three weeks”….but it was really for traditional liquid and powder enhancements. Unrealistic expectations and “spin” don’t make for loyal clientele…for me, at least, Just a thought… Karen Key West ________________________________ From:NailTech@googlegroups.com [mailto: NailTech@googlegroups.com ] On Behalf Of Angela R Wingerter Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2009 9:56 PM To: NailTech@googlegroups.com Subject: NailTech:: Re: Gel question and Melody Dawn, I'm not sure about the soak-ables either. Soaking in acetone or filing them off cannot be good for the natural nails. If you are going to do any of these things to natural nails, then why not just have enhancements. JMHO. A girl I work with is just getting into them, so I am trying to keep an open mind. Her clients are loving them and she is getting referrals.
