16 years and counting... I don't know if it's worth it, but I wouldn't have it
any other way. :)

Great news about your mom! Hope you feel better soon... I know what you mean,
when we feel like cr**, we panick on how we're going to get thru the day;
however, I still think it's worth being self-employed...

Thanks for asking. At this point Mom is doing better than I am. I'm sick as a
dog and can't take time off. I wish someone had sat me down and really talked
to me seriously about what you give up by being self-employed! ie: sick days,
paid vacation, unemployment benefits, workers compensation insurance, and the
really cool part of paying taxes where it gets withheld from your check BEFORE
you have a chance to spend it AND your employer pays a portion of it. Best I
can figure is the trade-off is that I get to wear my slippers to work.

Meanwhile: Mom is doing much better. She's home now with about 18 inches worth
of staples running down her front-- we go back to Stanford this Friday to have
those removed. She's sore, but she's starting to walk around without her
pillow-- she was only  moving around by clutching a pillow against her tummy.

I brought her into the salon last Friday so she could get her hair washed--
that made her feel MUCH better!
