For sure smart networking.  I would do what ever you think would get the most
attention and make the ladies remember your name.  and about the business card,
if you feel uncomfortable giving them out, just have them sitting on your
table.  If people like your service they'll take one or two.  maybe offer a
discount if they come into the salon.  you could put it on the back of the
cards so it's not so obvious.  Look around you and see if others are giving out
cards also.  Man, I wish they did things like this in my area.  What a great
idea.  and afor a great cause.

Well, yeah… but if I were only going to do one toe/finger per client and charge
a minimal fee… I would take the total price of the service at regular price and
divide it by ten ( naturally!) and then maybe add a buck or two and let that be
the donation.  Personally, I think that doing a whole set—assuming you can
create a setup that will be comfortable and ergonomic—would generate as much
interest as the finished product itself.  People love to watch other people
getting nails done.  So set it up like a “magic show” or something!  Have your
cards all over the place and be sure your victims won’t mind everyone
watching!  Everyone will think you are the shit!  Also, all the people who knew
you from back in the day when you were supermom will remember you too!

Lol Mel!! I need to re read that. I was thinking freebie. BUT if she only does
one toe for two dollars, she will get more done and her name out to more
people!
All I can think of is those poor girls at all the booths in Chicago who were
doing all 10 toes for free. And from the looks of those getting it done, they
were not going to buy the stuff- they just wanted FREE pretty toes!!!

Ok.. question:

If she is doing a fundraiser… wouldn’t the idea be to do services (at regular
prices) and all monies raised be donated to the cause?  Why should she only do
one toe per client?  I mean, if she were doing them for free, then yeah… but I
was kinda thinking that everyone there would be doing goods and/or services at
regular prices and donating the money to the cause.

But, either way—I definitely feel like it is still smart networking!  I would
hand out cards, menus of services and prices, everything I could related to my
salon!  Smilz….

Great opportunity for rack cards!  In case anyone on the list doesn’t know, I
design logos,  business cards, tshirts, and all kinds of marketing items that
you can purchase from me!  Check out my website for more info!

Pati,
What a great idea your community is doing!!
Okay-- smart networking my dear. You will not be the only one doing it. And at
the time when you are getting ready to reestablish yourself!!!!
Bling toes-- do ONLY one per person. If you have a bar stool use that for them
to sit on or you will have a back that hurts for days. I did it once and that
was all it took!! I crawled up the steps for days!!
I would not go overboard with decor, but use your salon theme so they remember
it. Tuscan was it? Use that for your table.
If I think of more, I will get back to you. I am cleaning up our walk in fridge
and the dining room. We just found out we have termites and got treated but
"he" neds to have everything put away!! Lol.

hi...I think I need some suggestions please...
there is an "awake-a-thon" going to be at our local high school...in honor of
cancer survivors and their caretakers. Premise is cancer never sleeps and
neither will we till we find a cure!  Ok so I was asked to go (and of course I
will) but there is also an opportunity to do some fundraising there.  After the
dinner, "parade" and speeches...people will then go into the gym and stay at
their "campsite". It is there that you can fundraise....all money going to the
cause...I thought I might do some nail art, or polishing...or maaayybe some
bling toes. There will be like 600 people FROM THE COMMUNITY there.....I
thought I would pass out some cards at the same time...do you think that is
....how shall I say it, "taking advantage of the situation?" or smart
networking? I don't want to come across as the first way. I used to be well
known in the community, active in the schools PTA president, on committees, cub
scout secretary, pre-school teacher...etc...but
my kids are grown up now and I had moved away for awhile. This will be the
first time I am seeing alot of people in a long time. I need some suggestions
on what to do and how to present it.
(set-up...decorate... etc)
