Caralyn,
I understand your misgivings in regard to SOG. I'm going to try and clear up
some of the questions you may have although I'm not an educator for a gel line.

Asking why SOG when you can just use traditional gel? Good question...when you
are considering using it for an overlay on the natural nail or slightly
extending the natural nail. That one is a matter of preference, SOG is more
flexible than traditional gel. You and your client are going to have to decide
which product will best suit their needs. As you read further down you will
see what role the primer plays in just how soakable your SOG will be.

Then you have your Gel Polishes which are soakable too. I believe that is what
Lynnette was referring to when she asked her latest question about SOG. Gel
Polishes are a great option, and a great service to offer! It's like TURBO
polish lol.
Gel Polish can be used on any client no matter what she may have on her nails.
They work well over acrylic, gels, wraps and natural nails. There is no drying
time at all which is a huge plus, not to mention it's a great selling point
for winter pedicures.
And Gel Polish will last much longer than polish...my clients go an average of
3 -4 weeks.

Gel Polishes are soakable, but what you use as your primer and sometimes your
base gel is going to make the difference when determining how soakable they
actually are. Using a "protein" type primer is going to grab that gel polish
and not let go. It works great, but the gel polish is not going to soak off
easily if at all. Usually using an acid free primer will do the trick when it
comes to soaking off. A trick a lot of us use is priming most of the nail
with acid free primer, and using a protein type primer at the free edge.

Truthfully, I find it easier to use my e-file to get the gel polish
off...especially when I'm not give the time to soak the client, or the client
runs late. When Gel Polishes first came out, I was intrigued by what they
offered, but I thought they were too much work...I thought why bother when I
can polish them faster....Now I love using them!

SOG is truly soak off, the key is using the correct prep products. Hope this
helped!

Looks like to me that the so called "Soak Off Gels " really aren't soak off. To
me it's a misrepresentation of these products.
If your still having to file it to remove it. Then it's not a "soak off"
product. Plain and simple.
That's why I watch to see what is new and up coming and see who is using it
here
and see the pros and cons given here and then I make my decisions on what
products I use.
The only pro I have seen with the S-O-G is possibly. It's better for toes over
regular gels. I debate that one only because it seems to take more to remove
than reg gel. So why should I invest in YET another product that the industry
says I just must have when I am doing just great with what works?
I mean there's not a complete explanation from the experts as to why the S-O-G
don't soak off. I'm talking about the owners of the companies that make these
products. And the chemist too.

Ya know I have so many different product lines in my closet that it's crazy to
even think about how much money is sitting there. This or that was the NEW
nail
fad and I had to have it. I know it was my choice but, now I am wiser and see
what's going on. If there were samples out there that would be great. But,
when
I called a couple of companies about their products they said" no no samples."
"Well, that really makes me want to buy your product even more now. You have a
product that is suppose to do the impossible. You want me to buy it. Yet, you
won't send me a sample to try. Even though. I am an educator in a Beauty
College teaching 18 nail tech students at the time. Hmmm, you really DONT want
to sell me or my student or future student or their co-workers product do you.
Two companies turned me down. The third said they just didn't give out samples
at all to anyone. So, that is my adventure in trying to locate sog's

So if there is anyone out there that doesn't mind me being technical and
picking
there brain and trying to figure this S-O-G thing out I would really appreciate
it. Especailly when I can go back to my students and give them a true and
better
answer than just trying to bs my way thru it. I like having the right answer
for
my girls. I have hated having to say I have no idea about the new soak of gels
girls. All I can tell you is that they really don't soak off like they say they
do. And leave it at that.

Sorry for ranting but this has been on my mind for a while and I finally
decided to get it off even if it took 2 tries the cat ran across me and so the
1st one wasn't finished.

What product name did you use. If it's that good then maybe I'll try
them. I don't know the procedures either? I do acrylics.
Thanks

Hola everyone!! Greetings from chilly Pennsylvania!
I have some questions again with this "soak off" gel.
I had VERY good results with my first guinea pig. She works in the
post office and her nails take LOTS of abuse. First chip was two
weeks later.
BUT-- I went to soak this stuff off and LO and BEHOLD the gel does
NOT soak off. I filed a bit and it did not budge!!!!!
So I wound up e-filing it off!!!!
What are you soaking off with?
Does it come off like acrylic or does it just come off in one piece?
Or the layers you apply?
This stuff stuck like mma

Help!
Muchas gracias,
Lynnette
