Prescription Nails makes a gel glue that is comparable to Gel Bond by CND.

that CND's gel bond was discontinued ??? Hmmmm wonder if it is true. What will

OK ladies.. you mostly all know I don't do nails much any
more.. but occasionally I do and occasionally I need some supplies..
Cosmoprof is right around the corner so I headed there in my errand
marathon yesterday.. the CND Gel Bond I needed was not for nails, but I
had to repair something :)

Love this part.. 2 employees, both in the back room - which isn't really
a room, but a 3/4 high partition wall.. neither saw me come in, which
leads to neither acknowledged my presence, which leads to not asking me
if I had a card/license to shop there.. both talking VERY loud and
laughing back there..

I find my Gel Bond on 30 seconds flat and wander around looking at what
they [did not] have on the shelves.. there was I must admit a decent
amount of CND, OPI, sundries and a dappling of other brands.. enough that
you could actually buy things you need.. but.. the bigger question was
how old was it all?? I was soon to find out :)

I didn't NEED that big tube of glue.. I REALLY only needed the little
one, but they didn't have any of the little ones, so I was sorta stuck
coughing up $7.60 for the big one. I head over to the register - one of
the 2 clerks finally appeared and now asks me for my card, which I
produce. I ask her, "Have you got any of the smaller tubes?" I
get an immediate "no" reply. OK then.. lets get this done
with.. She now starts to ring it up, there is some confusion, she marches
over to the shelves and starts looking for where they are.. I have to
point it out to her.. She comes back to the register and does some more
typing and announces to me, "oh that's why... this product is being
discontinued." I said I didn't think so.. she says oh yes.. they
aren't making this any more that's why I had trouble looking it up.
Yea sure.. CND stop making Gel Bond?? I'm highly doubting that thought
process, but whatever.. it is useless to go down that yellow brick road
with this girl..

Now the best part.. she says: what does this "stuff" do?? it is
for gel nails? After a nano second of OMG shock, I gave her my best nail
tech educated response about it's use, application, why you need it over
Krazy Glue (which she says is what SHE uses to apply tips).

The clerk doesn't ask me if I want a bag, she simply drops the tube in my
open purse.. I pay my $8.15 and bid my adieu..

This morning I fish the tube out of my purse and go get the piece from
the fridge I needed to glue. Next, experience tells me I need to take the
entire cap off, poke the foil protector thingie there and replace the
entire cap. Done with that, I remove the cap and gently squeeze
praying the gel will not just keep coming out eternally but if done
properly you can "reverse squeeze" and stop the flow.. I
squeeze.. nothing.. I squeeze a little more nothing.. now I remove the
entire cap and there is just enough gel there protruding from the foil
protection thingie for what I need.. BUT.. if you ever used Gel
Bond that was OLD, you know it becomes like melted string cheese and
thats what this was.. Knowing better, I applied it any way.. It has
been well over an hour and it still has not glued the 2 pieces
together..

Of course the tube and receipt are now sitting on the counter ready to be
returned in the next errand run.

Personally.. if I was still doing nails full time I would be mail
ordering everything.. never set foot in anything other than Sally's cause
they have the best triple cotton balls at the best price.. Read all
about my Shopping Theory on the new News Bytes section of the site..
