That is just it, Michelle. I am not soaking and I am not applying too thick.

I had nail curling during removal problems too. Gina showed me that I
was applying the product too heavily, so it had to soak longer. It was
the prolonged exposure to the acetone that caused the curling.  Once I
started applying less product it came off faster and no curling. Yay!
