Maureen,

I have had it on for two weeks and it is great. However, it really doesn't add strength like a gel overlay. It took me a minute to get used to that. To me, Shellac is hardly thicker than regular polish.

I don't know how far away from me you are (I'm in Warsaw) but you are welcome to trek on over and try before you buy.

I used gels 20 years ago when they were new and I didn't like it then and I am not sure that the product is any better now.

No, I am not buffing. It works very well. Rhonda posted this suggestion awhile back, that is why I tried it.

Lisa, your not buffing? You are applying your color gel right on top of a slick shiney surface?

I was using a dry brush to wipe tacky layer from the gel base and did not like the results. I have been removing the layer with a shop towel and alcohol. I have had no problems with shrinkage or having the color stay on.

Ange and Diana,
I am sure everyone will chime in but I only have a minute.
I do not wipe off the tacky layer. That was suggested, but I just do not want to do that. Someone else suggested taking your gel brush and wiping to remove the shiny dispersion. I am using a bursh that I wipe on my lint free. NO wet cleanse- just a bit tacky. It still leaves the nail tacky and ther is no shrinking. Well, there is a small amount, but nothing major.
I would not use polish on top of tacky, but polish does stay on it.
When I am doing SOG, I want NO polish. It will eventually peel, but it is okay if you apply more depending on how much abuse the nails take.
Gotta' run......

Diana,
I wiped off last night before I applied the gel color.I think it was Lynnette that said she does this and it keeps it from pulling back. Then I got nervous about putting it on a shiney surface so I buffed it first, then gel polished. I would think it wouldn't hurt to use your uv topcoat over a sticky surface. The reason I would think it would work is because they say you can use a sticky primer on the natural nail before reg polish.

My head is spinning with all this sog talk, but I think we are all figuring it out together. I only have two sog manicure clients and I don't want anymore until I get this figured out. Time is a problem. It is taking me way to long. I am listening to all the advice from this list. Thanks everyone, I would be lost without you guys.

okay, we have always been told that gel does not like shiny surfaces.

So when you apply your sog gel polish,do you wipe off the tacky layer from the base gel coat or not?

When applying gel top coat over the colored sog gel polish, do you wipe off the tacky layer from this or not?

And can u apply regular uv top coat over sog gel polish? If you do, again, do you wipe off the tacky layer or not?

So many things going on with this sog thread, trying to narrow this down. Or maybe it is a certain product question. Thanks diana from indiana
