I never said I wouldn't try new things...I've been in the biz for 23 years
and I have a closet full of new stuff that I've tried over the years. all
I'm saying is I don't like being taken advantage of and with this new LED
light and all the hype about the CND lamp I just feel like it's nothing more
than a way to sell new lamps. If the Brisa lamp works to cure the Shellac,
why all the hoopla from CND to purchase a new $200 light? I don'tk now
about the rest of you, but I work hard for my money and there are a lot of
things I need more than a new lamp. The only thing I see different about
the new CND lamp is the timer and more bulbs. I'd rather buy the product
than the lamp and unfortunately the cost of the CND light and the LED lights
are going to keep a lot lof techs from being able to offer these services.
Many of us are independent, sole operators or booth renters so we can buy
what we want, but what about the techs who work FOR someone? If they can't
convince them to buy a quality acrylic or gel or even sanitize the pedi
chairs how in the heck are they going to convince them that they should buy
a $300 light?

In addition, I'm torqued off that I can't even GET the Shellac here. The
suppliers have open stock, no salon racks and no lamps. No one knows when
they will be in. It's frustrating to talk something up to your clients,
schedule appointments around this product and then have to say 'gee, I'm
sorry I don't have it, don't know when I'm gonna get it'. Makes me look
like an ass.

I too prefer to use one line, but when the company I want to use doesn't
make what I want or need, I have to do something. Personally, I don't leave
my products out where clients can see them. I keep all my L&P in a basket
and don't take it out til I've filed and am ready to prep and apply product.
Same with Gel and mani/pedi products. As far as my clients know Shellac &
Gelish are just a new kind of hybrid polish color. That's all they need to
know. They know Axxium and ECO are also, just in a different container. I
have found that it is easier to use a whole mani/pedi lline than an entire
acrylic line. I just can't justify the cost of Scrubfresh vs. Acetone when
I know I get the same results with both of them.

My clients care more about the finished product and how they can go 3-4
weeks with no service break down than they do about the label on the
container. And I care about my bottom line. Unless and until I have issues
with Shellac or Gelish et al, I'll keep using the lights I have.

And in the immortal words of Forrest Gump "That's all I have to say 'bout
that."
