Hello Everyone!

I don't often have much time for posting any more, but I do read and lurk,
gathering information and using the tidbits of information here, all of which I
very much appreciate.

I have been following this thread with interest and feel compelled to respond.
I have two university degrees, including a Master's. When I was in university,
some university students could not spell or put a decent sentence together! I
noticed a phelora of mix-ups with "their" and "there" as well as "its" and
"it's", when I was marking essays and exams. I had a fourth year, about to
graduate student say, after I had handed out their essays, and I quote "I know
my essay was full of typos and spelling errors, but you didn't tell us it had
to be perfect."...this from a 4th year university student!!! I won't repeat
here what went through my mind when she said that! To be honest, most of what
I read here far surpasses some of those university students in terms of grammar
and spelling. Were I still in "marking mode" as a grad student, I might care
about such things...but here???...the information that is shared, tips and
such, are far more important to me.

How many of our clients read these posts? How many of the posters' write
English as a second language? How many full time nail techs benefit from the
knowledge shared here? I have a wonderful friend, who is a fantastic nail tech,
and who also writes English as a second language and when she emails me her
sentence structure is all over the place, not to mention spelling? Do I care?
Hardly! Do I appreciate her tips and knowledge? You bet I do!

Sure professionalism is important, but let's face it, in this industry the
first thing our clients judge is how we look, and then how well we do our
services and what level of skill we have. Do you seriously think the average
person on the street is necessarily going to write, type or spell any better
than anyone here? Furthermore, are they going to care???

In the final analysis, it comes down to what's important. If it bothers you so
much Katie, maybe take a break from the list. I agree with Laura...some of us
have other tasks that require our undivided attention and professionalism.

Just sayin' (sic)...(sorry, couldn't resist that!) !!! ;-)!

Cheers
