Hi Sheila!

SOG (soak off gel) is a gel product that is like traditional gel for nails, but
unlike traditional gels that MUST be filed off, sog soaks off in acetone like
acrylic. Is is available in many brands and many types, but a lot of what you
hear on the board here is about COLOR sog like Axxium, Eco/Star, Gelish, etc...
(Shellac is sorta in a class of its own... not a typical sog, it is a
gel/polish hybrid). Confused yet? LOL... And to make it even MORE confusing,
some people file off the sog like traditional gel instead of soaking it. The
color sog is pretty soft and only adds a little strength vs traditional gel
which seems to be harder.
Some come in a bottle like polish (Gelish, Shellac) and some come in pots like
gel. Most seem to cure in a lamp with 9w bulbs (no matter how many bulbs are in
there, lol). While you can use lamps for products other than the company who
makes it, you may need to tweek the cure times a little to make it perfect.
As to how to use it, just always start by following your manufacturer's
instructions that come with the product and going from there! It can be used
over natural nails, traditional gel, or acrylic.
Did I miss anything, folks? :)
