A client of mine works for our local newspaper-- small, free, local news only
paper-- and this morning during her appointment I pitched the idea of my
writing a "beauty/fashion" type column for the paper. She said she was pretty
sure the editor would love the idea and told me to decide how much I would ask
to be paid.
Well, I have (had) no idea what was reasonable but I did suggest the
possibility of trading for advertising space in the paper (I already pay them
$150 a month for advertising now, I'd LOVE to cancel that debt AND get MORE
press! LOL)
I just got word that the editor LOVES the idea and would like me to submit a
few samples of what I would write.
Does anyone have any ideas to contribute? Should I focus more on a "what's
in/what's out" type of column? Or a consumer information/this is what you need
to know type article?
I'd like to do a mix of these two styles, but I need to put together some
samples that sell the idea to the editor first!
