Hola Everyone! Okay, so here is my lowdown on the Chicago Show. I LOVED IT! Seeing everyone was probably the best thing, even if it was only for a few minutes. Sorry if I rushed off from some of you, but I had to get my shopping done. I was on a mission!! And I do that best alone! Ask Diana, she will tell you. Saturday, after watching the Chicago River being turned green for St. Paddy's Day, I was off on the #3 bus to McCormick Place. Pretty crowded bus and I have to say I was embarrassed for our profession because NOT one of the girls in the front gave up their seat to the elderly man who got on after them. Common courtesy. With booklet and map in hand, I figured out the booths I wanted to see. There was soooo much. Not in any order--- *KUPA-- needed to have two handpieces repaired. The kid working the booth was great. He could fix the one, but the other has to be sent back. He also talked me into a better model. Which I am using and the clients have noticed IMMEDIATELY that it is much better than the one before it. It makes no noise and cuts like soft butter. It also has cut my prep time down by about seven minutes. He fixed my one handpiece for free... * Nail Harmony... got six new colors!!! BUT--- I asked what the show deal was and she told me it was basically what I paid when I got my first shipment. The set of colors and a free top it off. NO deal. Sooooo, the next day Becky AND Patrice tell me they got a free top it off with six colors for $99. HUH????? I did not have my receipt since I got it the day before. I am not too happy about this. * Young Nails--- busy, busy, busy!! I wanted the tech to do a gel and acrylic with the frosted pinks, but for some reason she thought I wanted the sog. SO, I bought the frosted pink powder and the gels... OMG.. are they gorgeous!!! This is THE pink to use!!! Ellis, G and Habib were awesome, as usual! I saw Brisa, but she was so busy. I cannot wait to use the frosted pink gel. *NSI-- very disappointed. I stood there for about ten minutes watching a demo and there were two or three others standing around doing NOTHING. An empty table. I wanted to see their sog... I just walked away. Lost a sale there.... Sorry, NSI... (they were in the middle of nomansland there) *Glimmer Body Art--- LOVE this stuff... going to be a great add on to my brazilian waxes and for community days... This was a FUN booth to be at! Spent too much time there.... right Becky? * CND-- busy, busy, busy!!! Melody, LaShaun-- was great seeing them! Holly was not working this show!!! Good for her!!! * Nail Tek... Mary Jo and Arpi... I wish you were busier!! The trend is the sog now... I am not sure how you did on the other days... :-( * Hair Extensions-- like Becky said, they were all over the place. I took a class on the ones with the tape. THIS may be the one I go for. I signed up for another one when they come to Philly... BUT the tape extensions were awesome. * Facelift in a Bottle... girls, I have first dibs on Becky when I go next year. SHE gets all the deals.... This stuff really gets rid of wrinkles temporarily. You have to try it. She got us a much better deal. I had dinner with Patrice, Olga and Theresa and Patrice invited my daughter. We went to a Thai Restaurant, Big Bowl, in the Gold Coast area.. (FYI ladies, it was NOT downtown!! LOLOL) Patrice loved the Value Village or City!! LOL.. I went there with the girls. Tried to get in the day before from recommendations from Gretchen and Katie, but they closed up at 4:30. Olga grabbed a bubble bottle of Solar Oil with a red polish for $2!!! Hey, toss me one here!!! You have to wait in line earlier in the day to get in this area, but this is a GREAT thing. RUN, do not walk, to the back of the showroom if you plan on shopping there. Literally RAN into Holly!! What a sweetie... I now have the scoop on where she gets the time to do ALL she does with her tutorials. Thanks for the suggestion for my pedi clients, Holly! Sure hope I did not miss anyone! It was great to give and get hugs from ALL of you!! Lots of jewelry booths. Same for hair extensions. Lots of crazy hair booths. Honestly, I do not need all that three ring circus stuff. Moroccan Oil was the best booth. That booth is the busiest at every show I have been at. Their bags are the best. No cheapie bags from that company. I LOVE that product, too. Not just for hair, but for the skin!
Took the el up to Jaclynne's old area, Uptown, to shop at the Vietnamese shops. Got some deals... not too much. They are not too thrilled with Americans shopping there. It was so obvious this time. I heard the one customer ask for a better deal on one of the sog. Since my hearing has been heightened since my surgery, I heard the woman ask and he gave her a better deal. NOT good customer service when others are in the store. I cannot wait until next year. I just hope it does not snow. -- Lynnette Madden Salon 29 229 Main Street East Greenville PA 18041 215-541-9029 http://www.salon29.net -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "NailTech" group.
