Well the one thing I will tell you is almost never EVER reply and say stop sending this crap :) 99% are forged or hacked mail accounts that are sending that stuff.. I will say I feel gmail does a fairly decent job of keeping up with that is and what isn't, who I do find legit mail in my spam box there occasionally. It is a full time job fighting the bad guys :)

In the past 40+/- hours my server received just under 7000 emails - more than half - 4250 - of them were marked as spam and trashed

The SPAM button doesn't work because these people jump from server to server, from faked email address to fake email address faster than you can click SPAM. I have always contended that was a waste of time. I have investigated enough hacked hosting accounts to find their warz that generate these emails to know .. and they get smarter every day.. used to be you could detect the true originating IP address, now that is being spoofed also.. One hacked domain I looked at had 4-6 text files, 1 with thousands of email addresses to be used as the TO address, another with thousands of addresses to use as the FROM, another with hundreds of IP addresses to spoof that too.. then there was the actual program that built and sent the mails..

The other issue is where your email address is posted.. mine - all of mine - are everywhere.. I am a major target.. Maz.. yours in in tons of places now too.. more than ever.. oh and people getting their AOL, yahoo msn accounts, FB accounts hacked is totally out of control and the bad guys grab your addresses from those places also.

My best advise - choose 1 or more:
1. change your email address
2. get a gmail account
3. trash the mails and forget about it

In all the years since I set up this mail account I have NEVER been inundated with SPAM like I get at other addresses.

Until recently.

I'm kinda over all the invites for F***book and offers for prescription drugs that will apparently help me gain and maintain things that I don't really have the anatomy for to begin with.

So I'm coming to my best source of Internet info-- YOU GUYS!-- asking if anyone knows how to STOP getting all this stuff? Hitting the "SPAM" button does not, apparently, block the addresses effectively.
