Gert, thanks for that, I'll if removing the buffering from the logger affects the build.

I just looked in the xml log from last time it failed, and the last thing in the log is a BuildException: External Program Failed: C:\Program Files\GNU\WinCVS 1.3\CVSNT\cvs.exe (return code was 1) This message doesn't appear in the console, however (I'm using the default logger, with an xml logger listener)... but it does kind of explain why there is a log file at all. In fact, every time the build has hung has been during an 'exec' task. Although there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the task (by) itself... the build process completes perfectly if the xml logger is removed as a listener. I can't spend too much time on this just now, we have a release going out the door next week, but I'll let you know if I find out any more about this.
