Just to rule everything out when you use cvs from the command line and execute:
cd C:/temp/project1
cvs -d:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs co MyProject
password: [validpassword]
does this work? If so there may be an issue with sharpcvslib that is causing the hang.

I'm using the .84 release version.
