incident.

We are calling for an immediate boycott of Celestial Seasonings tea and other
products after learning that the company poisoned prairie dogs residing on
property at its Gunbarrel, Colorado, corporate headquarters. This is a
company that boasts openly about its environmental record and community
involvement. Knowing the strong base of prairie dog advocacy in the Boulder
County community, Celestial Seasonings carried out the extermination at night
and then lied about it to the press.

Community members, many of whom were drinkers of Celestial Seasonings teas,
are outraged. Not only is this a disturbing breach of public and consumer
trust but another assault on the imperiled black-tailed prairie dog -- a
vital keystone species of the native prairie ecosystem that once thrived
along Colorado's Front Range. In fact, the US Fish and Wildlife Service is
now considering listing the species as threatened under the Endangered
Species Act.

A statement made by CEO Steve Hughes, in his attempt to justify the
poisoning, reflects shear ignorance about prairie dogs. This is a shame,
because a huge wealth of collective expertise about these animals exists
within Boulder County. Information about alternatives to lethal control is
readily available. Citizen groups along with the county and municipal
governments have been working hard on plans to protect what is left of
Boulder County's ravaged prairie dog ecosystem. To have a company within our
community wantonly destroy such an important native animal, or any animal for
that matter, and disregard what is obviously an issue of citizen concern is
intolerable.

Thus, we are asking for a boycott of Celestial Seasonings products until the
company makes amends. We are demanding:

No more killing of prairie dogs, or any other wildlife species, on this
property.
No relocation of prairie dogs from this property.
Recovery of the poisoned areas on this property.
No development of this property.
No use of this property as a temporary parking lot or for other disruptive
uses.
Representatives from RMAD have arranged to meet with Celestial Seasonings
management on Tuesday, May 23, to discuss these issues and work towards an
agreement.

Please send back your unused Celestial Seasonings tea and contact Celestial
Seasonings representatives to tell them that you will no longer purchase
their products until they meet the above demands. In fact, Celestial
Seasonings tea comes with a money back guarantee -- so demand your money back
as well.
