Canada high court narrows Indian rights decision

OTTAWA, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Canada's Supreme Court, shaken by recent violence in the 
Atlantic lobster fishery after a September ruling on Indian rights, issued a 
clarification on Wednesday that sharply narrowed the perceived scope of the original 
verdict. 

The court denied on Wednesday an application in October by white fishermen for the 
case to be reheard but issued a 30-page explanation clarifying the interpretation of a 
1760 treaty with the Mi'kmaq Indians on which it had based its September 17 ruling....
