A BC First Nation is bringing its former chief to BC Supreme Court, claiming he
neglected to act in the band's best interests.

The Yekooche First Nation is suing Henry Joseph, who was chief for just over a
month from January 11th to February 26th of this year.

The Yekooche claim Joseph improperly used band funds during that time, agreed
to cede the band's claim to overlapping territory and fired a number of staff.

The First Nation, located 240 kilometres northwest of Prince George, also
claims he issued threats and locked out band members from the Yekooche finance
office.

Henry has since been replaced as chief by Partner Schielke, who won a
by-election.

None of the Yekooche's claims have been proven in court.
