This has been brought up various times. The idea is to have a D-Bus API
[1] allowing to control Nautilus programmatically, including the opening
of new locations, refresh of existing ones etc..

All the windows and slots should basically be exposed to D-Bus, and some
of their properties (location, view ID, ...). If you want to control
Nautilus from a plugin, we'd additionally have to assign textual or
numerical IDs to the various slots, and add an API for getting that API
that can be passed to D-Bus from the plugin.

If you think that the D-Bus round trip all-too-complex for controlling
Nautilus from your plugin, you need to bring up a good use case why you
have to programmmatically refresh the current location from a plugin.
