Also, have you tried using the Connect to Server dialog? Just click
"Connect to Server" in the Places sidebar, or choose it from the
application menu. It's a helpful dialog: it lists servers you have
connected to in the past, and it makes some effort to detect if it can
connect to the one you enter.
