As a workaround it is possible use the shortcut CTRL+L to enter the path
directly in address bar.

???  I assumed that is what you were doing;  that [CTRL+L] is how to do
navigation-by-path navigation.

Curious, where were you entering the path before?
No, I entered it as new server connection. See attached screenshot.
