Who do you Fear
?
(Josh 1:8-9 KJV)
This book of the
law shall not depart out of thy mouth;
but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night,
that thou mayest
observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou
shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good
success.
{9} Have
not I commanded thee?
Be strong and of
a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the LORD thy
God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
------------------------------
FEAR
A broad range of emotions that
embrace both the secular and the religious worlds. Secular fear is the natural
feeling of alarm caused by the expectation of imminent danger, pain, or
disaster.
Religious fear appears as the
result of awe and reverence toward a supreme power.
------------------------------
(Mat 10:24-28 KJV)
The disciple is
not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
{25} It is
enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord.
If they have
called the master of the house Beelzebub,
how much more
shall they call them of his household?
{26} Fear them
not therefore: for there is nothing covered,
that shall not
be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
{27} What I tell
you in darkness, that speak ye in light:
and what ye hear
in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
{28} And fear
not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the
soul:
but rather
fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in
hell.
(Isa 8:13 KJV)
Sanctify the
LORD of hosts Himself;
and let Him be
your fear, and let Him be your dread.
(Isa 51:7-9, 11 KJV)
Hearken
unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law;
fear ye not the
reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
{8} For
the moth shall eat them up like a garment,
and the worm
shall eat them like wool:
but my
righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to
generation.
{9} Awake,
awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD;...
{11} Therefore
the redeemed of the LORD shall return,
and come with
singing unto Zion;
and everlasting
joy shall be upon their head:
they shall
obtain gladness and joy;
and sorrow and
mourning shall flee away.
(Luke 12:4-5 KJV)
And I say unto
you my friends,
Be not
afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can
do.
{5} But I
will forewarn you whom ye shall fear:
Fear him,
which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell;
yea, I say unto
you, Fear him.
(Acts 20:24 KJV)
But none of
these things move me,
neither
count I my life dear unto myself,
so that I
might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the
Lord Jesus,
to testify the
gospel of the grace of God.
(Rom 8:35-39 KJV)
Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ?
shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or
sword?
{36} As it
is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long;
we are
accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
{37} Nay,
in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
{38} For I am
persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor powers, nor
things present, nor things to come, {39} Nor height, nor depth, nor any other
creature,
shall be
able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in
Christ Jesus our Lord.
(2 Tim 4:1-8 KJV)
I charge
thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
who shall judge
the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
{2} Preach
the word; be instant in season, out of season;
reprove, rebuke,
exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
{3} For the time
will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their
own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching
ears;
{4} And
they shall turn away their ears from the truth,
and shall be
turned unto fables.
{5} But watch
thou in all things,
endure
afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy
ministry.
{6} For I
am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
{7} I have
fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
{8} Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord,
the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me
only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
(Heb 11:32-38 KJV)
And what
shall I more say?
for the time
would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae;
of David also,
and Samuel, and of the prophets:
{33} Who
through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness,
obtained
promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
{34}
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the
sword,
out of
weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight,
turned to flight
the armies of the aliens.
{35} Women
received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured,
not accepting
deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
{36} And others
had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings,
yea, moreover of
bonds and imprisonment:
{37} They were
stoned, they were sawn asunder,
were tempted,
were slain with the sword:
they
wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted,
tormented;
{38} (Of whom
the world was not worthy:)
they wandered in
deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the
earth.
(1 Pet 2:19-25 KJV)
For this
is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering
wrongfully.
{20} For
what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it
patiently?
but if, when ye
do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with
God.
{21} For
even hereunto were ye called:
because
Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his
steps:
{22} Who did no
sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
{23} Who,
when he was reviled, reviled not again;
when he
suffered, he threatened not;
but committed
himself to him that judgeth righteously:
{24} Who his own
self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness:
by whose stripes
ye were healed.
{25} For ye were
as sheep going astray;
but are now
returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
(Rev 2:8-11 KJV)
And unto the
angel of the church in Smyrna write;
These
things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is
alive;
{9} I know
thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich)
and I know the
blasphemy of them which say they are Jews,
and are
not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
{10} Fear
none of those things which thou shalt suffer:
behold, the
devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried;
and ye shall
have tribulation ten days:
be thou faithful
unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
{11} He that
hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
He that
overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.
