I'm happy to take commits to that as an unofficial staging tree by
the way, provided it doesn't break anything (particularly FUA & FLUSH).

It might be a good way to get a flags-passing mechanism acceptable to
Paul et al ready.

We'd need to sort out userspace too, but I suspect that is easier.
