Jack, GR-49-CORE "Generic Requirements for Outdoor Telephone Network Interface Devices (NIDs)" covers NIDs. There's also some useful information in GR-2834-CORE "Generic Requirements for Basic Electrical, Mechanical, & Environmental Criteria for Outside Plant Equipment". For Safety, UL uses Subject 1697 and the category is DUZO. These requirements borrow from UL 60950, UL 1459, the NEC, GR-1089-CORE, GR-49-CORE, and a few other standards. You should also keep in mind that you'd have to meet FCC Class B as the device is mounted directly on a residence. The RBOC exemption goes away since the device is not under their complete control.

It would connect to the telco via fiber and have copper going back into the house. Thanks in advance for any help, Jack
