Getting Ready for Revival
"' exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day
approaching." (v.25, NKJ)

We spend a final day reflecting on the argument that the emotions
kindled in revival are counter-productive to an effective Christian
life. The answer, as we have seen, is that this can be so - but it
need not be. When sound Christian teaching is available to channel
the emotion seen in times of revival into productive purposes, then
the sky's the limit. Many who witnessed the 1904 Welsh revival say
that it could have continued longer and made an even greater
spiritual impact if there had been more teachers to lead the people
into the deeper things of God. When I first learned this (just after
becoming a Christian in my mid-teens), I immediately committed my
life to doing everything I could to ensure that future revivals would
not suffer for lack of teaching resources. In 1965 I founded the
Crusade for World Revival (now called CWR) with the primary objective
of encouraging people to pray for both personal and corporate revival
and deepen their understanding of the Word of God. Other objectives
have been added to these over the years, but the primary goal is
still that of helping God's people prepare for revival. I like to
think that day by day as you follow these meditations and read the
set Scriptures, you are not only building up your own spiritual
resources but preparing yourself for a deeper and more effective
ministry to others - now and in the future. Who knows but that in
addition to your present and daily ministry for Christ you may have a
part in establishing someone who has come to know Him in a time of
revival?
PRAYER:
O Father, how wonderful it would be to witness a revival - and have a
part in it. But whether I will or not, help me take the knowledge I
gain from You day by day - and pass it on. In Jesus' Name I ask it.
