Oliver Stone's epic "Alexander" is "boring here and exciting there. And it's almost always goofy," according to Weekend's Desson Thomson. He dislikes "Christmas With the Kranks" even more, calling it "a festering pile of celluloid." Fortunately, a few more films open on Friday. You can find out about them on our movies page. And feel free to explore our movie trailers here. Coming Attractions Trying to see some movies in between holiday shopping? Take a look at Desson's Thomson's holiday movie guide, which makes seasonal cinema scheduling a snap. Holiday Shopping Museum Shops Holiday Collection Who wants to spend Black Friday at the mall? They'll also be DJing the entire night and will be mixing the live show directly into the DJ'd set. And you thought carving a turkey was tough. Music: Travis Morrison And yet another local product in town for the holiday finds time to play a show. Former Dismemberment Plan frontman Travis Morrison has received mixed reviews for his solo debut, but should be welcomed with open arms at the Black Cat. Dancing: Panic on the Streets of Washington Panic, once one of Washington's most popular Britpop, alternative and indie-rock dance nights, resurfaces for a special event at DC9.
