The body of the 37-year-old black man � who was wearing blood-stained tan pants and an orange shirt � was found by a boater about 6:30 a.m. at the driveway entrance to the Lovers Key/Carl E. Johnson State Park's boat ramp overlooking Estero Bay, said Ileana LiMarzi, a Lee County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman. COMMISSION TO RESPOND TO SHERIFF'S APPEAL Rather than strike a settlement, Collier County commissioners instructed their attorneys Tuesday to prepare a response to the decision by Sheriff Don Hunter to appeal his fiscal 2005 budget to Gov. Jeb Bush and the Cabinet. Their response will defend the $120.9 million budget commissioners gave the sheriff and argue the money is enough for Hunter to do his job. COLETTA LEADS EXPLORATION OF SIX LANES FOR SANTA BARBARA Residents who live along Santa Barbara Boulevard say they feel betrayed by the Collier County Commission's decision Tuesday to reconsider a plan to widen their road to six lanes from Golden Gate Parkway to Pine Ridge Road. After deciding last year to shelve the proposal, the commission agreed Tuesday to reconsider it at the prodding of Commissioner Jim Coletta. COUNTY APPROVES PURCHASE OF MAR-GOOD RESORT IN GOODLAND Elhanon and Becky Combs gave up possibly millions of dollars in profits to make sure the historic land in Goodland was protected from private developers. The Collier County Commission on Tuesday unanimously approved a $2.5 million purchase of the Mar-Good Resort Cottages, RV Park and Marina from the Combses, who bought the site in 1986.
