Today's Macintosh Tip: Replacing the PRAM Battery Just remove the cover or slide the CPU board out, and locate the PRAM battery. A small number of Mac models have the PRAM battery installed underneath disk drives or, in the case of Quadra towers, the battery is in a small compartment near the cooling fan on the outside of the case. To change the one-half AA battery, you will have to remove the retaining clip that covers the plastic battery holder. Remove the old battery, and replace it with the new one.
