Jim, it's good to see another fisherman from this part of the country.  I never have fly fished.  Always wanted to learn someday but them day's are getting fewer.  I bet you like to go out to that Bass Pro Shop over there close to ya.  That's my favorite spot for now.  Have to see what that new Cabela's looks like when they open it up over here.

When you catch catfish with the Clauser Minnow Fly, are you using a fly rod and reel?  Or a spinning reel with them?  I have a few photo's of a large bucktail fly a friend sent to me and one of the way he rigs for big blue catfish.  He's been catching a lot of real nice ones out of the gate area of a dam he goes to.  He'll cast up close to the gates and let the current carry the rig downstream and them big huge blues will nail the heck out of it.  I thought he was using a 6oz bank sinker with the rig but read his tips again he sent me and he's using a 4oz one with it.  Say's he always has some really big ones hit about everytime he goes that will just burn the line off the reel and he can't do anything with them except cut the line or let it break.

That's why I'm pretty well interested in tying some big bucktails like that on some 6/0 hooks.  Then try them over at the Lake O The Pines and Caddo in East Texas.  Do you fish mostly at Grapevine and Ray Roberts?  My two favorites close to home is Lake Worth and Eagle Moutain.  Arlington and Joe Pool sometimes.  I've fished Grapevine there from the Rocks up at the dam and caught some nice pan sized channel cats.  Would like to get out on that lake a little more and find out where them flathead holes are on it.  Maybe we can get together over that way and wet a hook.  I've got another ol boy gonna go fish with me this weekend for some blues.  We're headed to a few spots a guy told me about that had been pulling some 50 and 60lbers out of there.  Hope I hook one or two myself and can post a photo.  If not theres plenty of time to go between now and Feb.  If you tie your own flies, would you know a place I could buy some thread and adhesive so I don't have to buy a whole kit?  The flies I wanna tie are pretty simple looking with just two colors of bucktail.  No eyes or anything else added to them.  Hollar if ya ever wanna wet a hook.
