Hi Kathleen. Well, as you might expect, as things remain the same, so do they change... anyway, the 2am to 4am parking (boondocking) restiction in the Mission Bay area no longer applies to the Shelter Island parking lot across from Humphrey's... 2 years ago, they changed it to "No Overnight Camping"... just to give the "policing" policy a little more ambiguity for interpretation... makes a great policy, because there's no definition for what constitutes "overnight"... but is left up the the officer's discretion... and I think I've figured out what that is for the most part... even tho its not uniformly enforced every night... nor uniformly by every uniformed uninformed officer... but here's my interpretation of the "Uniform Uninformed Policing Policy"...
the overnight "Third" shift starts sometime around 11pm and ends sometime around 6am, give or take an hour or two... and if the patroling officer on the "Third" shift sees a rig parked down there after their first D & C (donuts and coffee) call at say midnight, and then again at between 4 and 5 am just before their final D & C, you will be considered an "Overnight" camper and you'll find a ticket on your windshield... some times, but not always... but what happens over in the Mission Bay area, at the South Shore Boat Ramp parking lot and nearer the Tourist Information Bldg, I'm less clear about... but I think they just ticket anyone parked over there during that "No Parking From 2am To 4am" restriction... no interpretation needed... as far as reading the paper and having something to eat between 2 and 4am just to avoid getting a ticket... that just isn't very practical... I prefer sleeping all night undisturbed, don' you?... and who eats in Denny's anyway?... I prefer eating plastic imitation dis-play food... and have you ever observed the floor in a Denny's kitchen?... that's not sawdust... its leftover spills ground up with cockroach dust... which they might sweep out once in a while... no, I prefer my own cooking and my own 'bugs', thank you very much... and just try to explain to the waitress, that you would like a "gourmet" scrambled egg-white sandwich (this is no yoke) with sauted chopped green peppers and onions, sprinkled with fresh garlic powder, seasoned salt, lemon pepper and naturally flavored artificial bacon chips on a thick slice of 7 grain wheat bread, untoasted, with taco sauce and... hmmm... what was that last gourmet item... oh yes... ketchup... smothered with ketchup... now that's meal any chef over at Denny's would be proud to prepare... if only they knew how to cook... and how to separate egg whites from yokes... anyway, that should pretty much clear it up for everyone now... but just to let you know, things are still in the process of changing down here... and there's a rumor that the new "Sheriff", Chief Chef Betty Whats-her-name, is trying to formulate new policing policies with the help of their legal and planning staffs, to instill yet further restrictions so as to discourage any MHs from coming down here... some have suggested parking meters (another tax)... or parking permits (more taxes)... or some other clever method of further restricting the RVer's presents and and at the same time, increasing revenues... all that extra C & D expense must somehow be justified... ideally, of course, on this most under utilized, most expensive piece of property in the world, they would like to see absolutely no vehicles down here to police over (an empty lot is much more efficiant to police than a lot full of vehicles filled with potential law breakers) and still be able to collect taxes and/or write tickets... its a mind-bender for sure... but that's another "rant"... or "rave"... Jubiladojipsyjim... boondocking on the doorsteps of San Diego... where some people find the noise off the Coronado Naval Base too loud... where the palm trees are too tall... where the water is too clear... where the parking lots are too empty... and where the boondockers are too numerous... even tho most of the time, I'm the only one down here... I gotta go find someone to talk to... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- previously: >>>JJJ wrote: >>>...maybe I should go over and introduce myself... and let her know that I'm >>>on to her new secret policy, the Monthly Ticket Quota (to keep your job)... >>>nah... end of raving... >>> >Kathleen wrote: >I thought you could park in those big parking lots on the bay except for >between 2am and 4am? Why not just move during that time? Go down and read the paper and have a bite to eat at Denny's? Kathleen [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------ Yahoo!
