Title: DGA
OK, I’m back to running XFree86-4.1, the version info reported in the log is as follows:
XFree86 Version 4.1.0 / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6510)
Release Date: 2 June 2001
I’m running Mandrake-Linux 8.1, the RPM release (if it matters) is: 4.1.0-17mdk
My “Module” section contains the following loads:
dbe, extmod, xie, pex5, glx, dri, GLcore, record, type1, freetype
While I realize that I probably do NOT need all of these (indeed some of them may not even be valid for the neo driver), I put them all in just in case it made a difference in getting DGA working. Btw, in case I haven’t mentioned it yet, the neo chip is a 2160 – the laptop is the Dell Latitude CPi D266XT.
My monitor section sets the horizontal sync to be in the 31.5-48.5 range and the vertical refresh to be in the 40-70 range.
My device section defines the driver to be ‘neomagic’ and sets the following options:
ShadowFB
XaaNoScanlineImageWriteRect
XaaNoScanlineCPUToScreenColorExpandFill
DPMS
I believe these are all necessary to keep the server from locking up my system in a tight wait loop that requires me to reset the laptop.
That’s about everything that I can figure as being important. Can anyone help me get DGA working? I have XF-4.1 running, but executing the dga app (as root) returns:
Xserver driver doesn’t support DirectVideo on screen 0
:(
Help!
