Those interested in the odd end of the dekatron field might want to check 
out eBay item 200832030306. It's a Russian A201 tube, which is something 
called an inverse dekatron or polyatron. Central disc is a *cathode* and 
the pins are *anodes*. This technology was developed in the mid-60s with 
the aim of producing a tube which needed smaller driving pulses than normal 
dekatrons and could drive nixie tubes directly without any intervening 
active components. You can think of it as a logical extrapolation of the 
auxiliary anode tubes made by ETL and copied by RFT, though they are normal 
polarity tubes. This is the only commercially produced polyatron design 
that I'm aware of.
 
No connection to the seller etc etc. Well, other than having just bought a 
couple of the tubes from the listing that is...
