I think you may be overthinking things Greg...:-) 

Just kidding..

I’ve only ever used my iPhone to take pictures and some are good, some not so 
much...lighting is important! I have noticed that the recent XR camera doesn’t 
handle the glow of nixies very well, so i have to use a filter afterwards to 
get them to look a little cooler....
